Eli Lilly CEO Says Out-Of-Pocket Costs Too High For Many ACA Customers
July 24, 2015
CNBC (Belvedere, 7/24) reported that Eli Lilly Chairman and CEO John Lechleiter responded to a recent editorial, signed by more than 100 cancer doctors, which called for a slowing of the rise of cancer drug prices. Lechleiter said that all facets of care, not just medicine, need to be addressed; "We need an insurance system that provides adequate coverage for all the elements of care, including medicines that patients need. … Some of the insurance policies we've seen offered through these [Obamacare] exchanges, the premiums are low but the co-pay or co-insurance or the deductible associated with gaining access to medicine is too high for many people."
