Some Medicare Beneficiaries Could See Much Higher Premiums Next Year

July 24, 2015

Kaiser Health News (Galewitz, 7/24) reported that the Medicare Hospital Trust Fund will be solvent until 2030. The news come in a report from the trustees  that also “warned that several million Medicare beneficiaries could see their Medicare Part B monthly premiums skyrocket by 52 percent in January — from $104.90 to $159.30.” The rate increases are expected due to two factors “Medicare Part B costs increased more than expected last year, and Social Security is not expected to have a cost of living increase next year.”
